OXFORD, Ala. – Eastern Illinois softball season came to end on Wednesday morning with a 3-1 loss to Tennessee Tech in the opening round of the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
TTU scored the deciding runs in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring twice.  In the seventh EIU loaded the bases but was not able to score as Alyssa Arden picked up a strike out to improve to 14-12 on the season.Â
TTU jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a home run by Sydney Dukes in the fourth inning.
Eastern Illinois tied the game in the top of the sixth as
Rachel Kaufman was hit by a pitch to open the frame. Pinch runner
Marama Makea would score the tying run for EIU as
Morgan Lewis laced a double down the left field line.Â
Lewis picked up one of three hits for EIU against Arden as
Hannah Cravens had a double in the first inning and
Megan Burton added a single later in the game.Â
In the bottom of the sixth, TTU opened the inning with a Dukes walk. She would come around to score on an RBI by Sydney Love-Baker. The Golden Eagles would take advantage of an EIU error to add an insurance run.
Haeli Bryson had two hits to lead TTU as they only had four hits against EIU starter
Alexa Rehmeier who ends the season at 12-10.
EIU posted a 25-30 record during the season.
TTU improved to 32-20 and advances to play UT Martin on Wednesday afternoon.
