As the Ohio Valley ConferenceĀ celebrates its 75th anniversary this academic year, we look back at Eastern Illinois part in that history each Tuesday
Beth Liesen was a standout on the soccer pitch for Eastern Illinois women's soccer from 2000-03.Ā She earned first team All-OVC honors in each of those season and finished her career as the most prolific goal scorer in both school and conference history.Ā Ā
Liesen finished her EIU career with 62 career goals setting the OVC record which still stands to this day.Ā She had 26 match winning shots.Ā In addition she holds the OVC single season goals scored record with 20.Ā Ā
Liesen led EIU to a 19-2-3 OVC record during her four years on the pitch as the Panthers advanced to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances.Ā Ā
She was named the OVC Player of the Year in 2003, one of five Panthers in program history to win that award joining Heather Ory (1998), Ida Hakansson (1999), Devon Bissell (2000) and Kellie Floyd (2006).
