The Panthers had their highest scoring output of the year shooting 57 percent from the field in the 112-50 win. EIU improved to 4-5 on the season and will have a chance to get to the .500 mark for the season as they host IUPUI on Thursday. The Jaguars enter at 3-6 having lost six of their last seven games.
GRBOVIC JUST MISSES DOUBLE-DOUBLE
With his dad in attendance this week from Serbia, junior college transfer
Lazar Grbovic had his best game in a Panthers uniform as he just missed a double-double on Saturday against UHSP. Grbovic pulled down a team-high nine rebounds while scoring nine points. Six of his nine rebounds were on the offensive glass as he has ten of his 16 rebounds this season on the offensive end of the floor. His previous bests this season were eight points in the home win over Eureka College and six rebounds in the home win over Monmouth (Ill.).
BALANCED SCORING IN BLOW OUT WIN
Eastern Illinois had its best offensive showing of the season on Saturday with a 112-50 win over UHSP. All fourteen players in uniform scored for the Panthers as the team shot 57 percent from the floor. Five players scored in double figures in the win led by
Kooper Jacobi with 14 points. He was joined in double figures by starters
Jermaine Hamlin (12), Tiger Booker (11) and
Nakyel Shelton (10).
Isaiah Griffin scored a season high 12 points off the bench to round out the double digit performers. The last time EIU cracked the century mark in a game was last November with a 102-40 win over St. Mary of the Woods. The 112 points is the most for an EIU team since November 2019 when they scored 114 points against Indiana Northwest.
