CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois indoor track finished their 2023 regular season off at the 2023 Friday Night Special in EIU's own Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse Friday evening in Charleston, Ill. The Panthers had nine first place finishes during the meet.
In the field events,
Bradley Olysav took home another first place finish in the men's weight throw with a distance of 17.84m (58'06.50"). His partner in crime
Matthew Gladieux would place third after a toss of 17.29m (56'08.75). Olysav also finished in third in the shot put with a distance of 16.76m (55'0").
The women's weight throw saw two Panthers earn top three finishes in their final home meet of the season.
Taylor Iverson earned a second place throw of 16.31m (53'06.25") while
Jenna Grzeskowiak finished with a 15.00m (49'02.50") for a third place.
Moving over to the pole vault,
Zac Stout earned himself a third place finish after posting a height of 4.10m (13'09.25").
Ramsey Hunt also placed first in the men's long jump after leaping to a distance of 7.08m (23'02.75").
Holly Vogt would earn a third place in the long jump for the women's team with a distance of 5.30m.
Freshman
DeShawn Parker added to his impressive rookie indoor season with a first place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 14.46m (47'05.25").
Taryn Tarquin also earned a first place on the women's side in the triple jump with a final jump of 11.11m (36'05.50").
Elijah Skutt placed first in the high jump with a leap of 2.01m. This jump ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Over on the track,
Jekeel Suber set his season best time in the men's 60 meter hurdles with a run of 8.27. He now ranks fourth in the OVC with that time. Skutt also finished third for the men's team with a finals time of 8.55.
Jahleel Perrin won the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.87 while his running partner
Brailyn Johnson finished with a 6.89 in the prelims to move up to sixth in the OVC.
Danielle Frank also took home gold in the women's 60 meter dash with a time of 7.72.
Makenna McBride was able to capture the final first place finish for the Panthers in the women's 200 meter with a time of 25.93. Aidan Gonzalez finished off the meet for EIU with a second place finish in the men's 3000 meter run with a time of 8:55.95.
The Panthers will be back next week as they travel to Birmingham, Ala. for the OVC Indoor Championships. The meet will start on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and continue on Thursday, Feb. 23. Results will be updated daily.
