CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois softball fell behind Western Michigan 3-0 in the first inning and could not bounce back from the early deficit as the Panthers wrapped up the Frost Classic on Sunday with a 6-1 loss to WMU.
Â
EIU had opened the Frost Classic on Friday afternoon with a win over Memphis, the sixth straight of the season for EIU. However, rain washed out Friday afternoon's slate with the Panthers then playing two Saturday games in soggy conditions. Sunday's game wrapped up the weekend for EIU as they hold a 6-8 record after three weeks of play.
Â
Courtney Farrish had a two-run double in the first to get the offense started for the Broncos scoring Alyssa Kramer and Addison Hudson. Both Kramer and Hudson finished with multiple hits in the game, two of the three WMU players with multiple hits.
Â
EIU broke into the scoring column in the fourth as
Kendall Grover continued her solid weekend at the plate. Grover had an RBI single to center that scored
Jaylen Prichard. Grover was 2-for-3 in the game and hit .417 for the four-game weekend tournament.Â
Â
EIU finished with a total of six hits in the game. Grover and
Aniya Holt both had doubles at the plate for the Panthers.
Â
Payton Kelly had a two-run double in the fifth for Western Michigan and Hudson capped the scoring with an RBI single in the sixth.
