CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Eastern Illinois beach volleyball (0-5, 0-4 OVC) ended their weekend at the UTC Sports Complex with four hard fought matches at the first of two Ohio Valley Conference Weekends.
EASTERN ILLINOIS 0 - 5 MOREHEAD STATE
In their opening match on Saturday, the Panther dropped all five duals in tough sets. Eastern Illinois closed the gap in all sets but fell just short of their first victory of the season.
During the No. 1 pairing with
Christina Martinez Mundo and
Tori Mohesky, they dropped a close two set match with scores of 12-21 and 17-21. It marked the pairs first number one pairing together on the season.
Emily Wilcox and
Ella Collins continued their strong weekend after posting two set scores of 16-21 to lose a close battled in the number five pairing.
Kate Dean and
Catalina Rochaix also kept it close in the number four dual with set scores of 15-21 and 17-21.
Lilli Amettis and
Giovana Larregui Lopez scored the highest set score of any pair for EIU as they posted a first set score of 18-21 but ultimately fell 11-21 in the second.

The Panthers claimed their second dual win of the weekend as
Kaitlyn Flynn and
Sylvia Hasz won their second dual of the season as partners. In the number two pair dual against Chattanooga, EIU would drop the first set 19-21 before battling back to claim victory with scores of 21-19 and 15-13.
All five of today's duals against Chattanooga were close in scores. Martinez Mundo and Mohesky were paired together in the number one dual and lost a tight battle by scores of 12-21 and 17-21.
Larregui Lopez and Amettis took their No. 3 pairing to the end of the line in three sets, but fell just short for the Panthers. EIU took the first set 22-20 before ending the last two sets with scores of 12-21 and 5-15.
Collins and Wilcox also took the No. 5 pairing of Chattanooga to three sets with scores of 21-16, 14-21, 2-15. Dean and Rochaix also had set scores of 19-21 and 18-21 at the number four pair.
