LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eastern Illinois opened the morning winning its continued game from Saturday with a 10-7 win over Bellarmine. The Panthers then added two more wins on Sunday with a 5-2 win over Bellarmine and 8-3 win over Valparaiso.
EIU and Bellarmine were postponed from Saturday tied 7-7 in the seventh inning. On Sunday morning, EIU scored three runs in the eighth inning to pick up the 10-7 win.
Kendall Grover had the game winning home run with
Lindy Milkowski tacking on her second home run of the game, a two-run shot.
EASTERN ILLINOIS 5, BELLARMINE 2 (9 innings)
Eastern Illinois won its second straight extra inning game over Bellarmine with a 5-2 win in nine innings.
EIU scored three runs in the ninth to break open a 2-2 tie.
Jaylen Prichard reached on an error allowing
Aryn Henke to come around and score the go ahead run. Grover added an RBI double and
Rachel Kaufman a RBI single to provide the Panthers insurance runs.
Kaufman worked four innings of relief in the circle.
Olivia Price (3-3) pitched five innings picking up the win.
Bellarmine scored first in the game on a double steal with Addison Kerr coming home to score in the third. Milkowski then tied the game in the fourth with a solo home run.
The Knights scored an unearned run in the fifth with EIU tying the game at 2-2 in the sixth on an RBI double by
Amber Cieplinski.
Prichard, Grover and Milkowski all had two hits for EIU.
Kerr and Olivia Bricker had two hits to lead Bellarmine. Claire Lehmkuhler (0-9) took the loss for Bellarmine.
EASTERN ILLINOIS 8, VALPARAISO 3
Amber Cieplinski had a big day at the plate as the Panthers won 8-3 over Valparaiso for their third straight at the Bellarmine Tournament.
With the game tied at 1-1 in the
Denaed Santini pushed the Panthers out to a 3-1 lead with a two-run double to right in the fourth.
Cieplinski added an RBI double in the sixth and then delivered a two-run double in the seventh giving EIU an 7-1 lead. Cieplinski was 3-for-4 with the three doubles and three RBI in the game.
Lindy Milkowski was 3-for-4 with two doubles while
Maddie Swart had a solo home run in the third.
Tieghan Morio (2-1) worked 5.1 innings in the circle for the win.
Kimberli Rodas had a two-run double in the seventh as Valparaiso cut into the Panthers big lead in their final at-bat. Four Beacons players had two hits.
