Colton Coca from Eastern Illinois baseball took home the Ohio Valley Conference's Pitcher of the Week award after his performances against Lindenwood and Little Rock last week.
Last week, Coca was 2-0 in two relief appearances for the Panthers including wins over Lindenwood and Little Rock. He pitched in 5.0 innings allowing just one hit against the Trojans. He walked just two batters and held opponents to a .067 batting average.
In his first appearances against Lindenwood, he pitched the final 2.2 innings against the Lions in an 11 innings game. He finished the game allowing no hits against the eight batters he faced while striking out four Lions.
He then followed that performance with a win against the Trojans in game two of a three game series. Coca pitched in 2.1 innings of relief for starter Ky Hampton. He allowed just one hit and two walks against the Trojans while also striking out three.
Coca and the Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Champaign, Ill. to face off against the Fighting Illini of Illinois.
