PADUCAH, Ky. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis won a match at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament for the first time since the 2018 season as the Panthers picked up a 4-0 opening round win over Southern Indiana on Friday in Paducah, Ky.

EIU improved to 13-10 overall and will face No. 2 seed SIUE on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the OVC semifinals.

EIU clinched the doubles point with a win at No. 2 doubles by
Madeline Monroy and
Brittany Steven. The pair won 6-2 after EIU's No. 1 doubles team of
Addison Brown and
Christine Gouws won the opening doubles match 6-2.  EIU's No. 3 doubles of
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova and
Lauren Ellis were leading 5-3 when their match was left unfinished.

In singles play EIU was leading in five of the six singles matches when Gouws locked up the match with her win at No. 1 singles to give the Panthers the 4-0 win. Gouws won 6-2, 6-2 over Lauren Rowe.
