MOREHEAD, Ky. - Eastern Illinois beach volleyball (2-10, 1-9 OVC) finished out the final Ohio Valley Conference Weekend of the season with a pair of losses to UT Martin and Tennessee Tech on the campus of Morehead State.
Eastern Illinois was swept during their morning match against top ranked UT Martin by a score of 5-0. The Panthers came back with a hard fought loss against Tennessee Tech by a score of 4-1.
EASTERN ILLINOIS 0 - 5 UT MARTIN
Eastern Illinois opened up day two of the second OVC Weekend of the season with a 5-0 loss against the number one seeded UT Martin. The Panthers battled throughout the dual but fell short in all five matches.
Christina Martinez Mundo and
Tori Mohesky played at the number two pairing against UT Martin's Kambree Lucas and Olivia O'Keefe. The dua went toe to toe against the Skyhawks but loss in two sets by scores of 15-21 and 23-25.
Giovana Larregui Lopez and Tori
Sylvia Hasz also battled tough at the number three pairing against Lucy Kaufman and Addy Vaughn with set scores of 18-21 and 12-21.
EASTERN ILLINOIS 1 - 4 TENNESSEE TECH
The duo of
Giovana Larregui Lopez and
Sylvia Hasz bounced back during the second match against the Golden Eagles and won their match at the number three spot. Lopez and Hasz gave the Panthers a chance at the end to win with scores of 21-19 and 21-13.
The number one and two pairs for the Panthers both went down to the wire in three set fashion.
Christina Martinez Mundo and
Tori Mohesky battled against TTU at the number two spot but fell by set scores of 19-21, 21-8 and 13-15.
Kaitlyn Flynn and
Lilli Amettis also were able to take their match against Skylar Boom and Jordan Karlen to three sets. The duo lost in a close three set finish by scores of 21-14, 13-21 and 7-15.
Emily Wilcox and
Ella Collins also battled hard during the second match of the day with set scores of 19-21 and 22-24 at the number four pairing.
Eastern Illinois beach volleyball will continue their season at the OVC Tournament next weekend starting on Thursday, April 24 in Martin, Tenn. The double elimination tournament will go until Saturday, April 26.
