Eastern Illinois senior hurdler and sprinter
Akiya Kollore has been named the Panthers 2022-23 Female Athletic Director's Award Winner after wrapping up an award-winning career in track.
Kollore excelled in multiple events during her Eastern Illinois career in both sprints and hurdles making three different trips to the NCAA West Regional in four different events.
Her inaugural trip was as a member of the women's 4x100 relay team which set a school record and placed 16th at the NCAA West Regional just missing on advancing to the NCAA National Championships.
As a junior she became the first EIU female athlete to advance to the NCAA West Regional in multiple events competing in both the 100 meter hurdles and 200 meter dash. She would return once against to the NCAA West Regional this year as a senior competing in the 100 meter hurdles.
She was a six time OVC event champion earning a total of ten All-Ohio Valley Conference team honors in her indoor and outdoor career. She ended her career holding three school records.
In addition to her work on the track, Kollore was a multiple-time USTFCCCA All-Academic selection for her success in the classroom.
Kollore was one of three candidates for the award joined on the list by Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova from tennis and Lariah Washington from basketball.
EIU released its end-of-year awards this week with five award winners from the 2022-23 academic year. Giovana Larregui Lopez from volleyball was named the EIU Female Newcomer of the Year on Monday. Ryan Ignoffo (baseball) and Olivia Price (softball) were named the Male & Female Athletes of the Year on Tuesday and Wednesday. The awards were wrapped up on Thursday and Friday with the EIU Male and Female Athletic Director Award winners – Dustin Hatfield (cross country / track & field) and
