Eastern Illinois placed 23 student-athletes on the Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence released on Wednesday (July 26) as the Panthers competed as affiliate members in the conference in men's soccer, men's swimming and women's swimming during the 2022-23 academic year.
 
A total of 1,071 student-athletes from the Summit League earned the academic distinction with representatives from the ten member institutions and six associate members in a total of 17 sports.   The list honors student-athletes for their hard work in the classroom during this past academic year.

In order for a student-athlete to be selected to the Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence, the student-athlete must carry a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA, have used a year of eligibility and completed three full semesters or five quarters at the nominating institution.
 
The following EIU student-athletes earned the academic award this year.
 
Men's Soccer (11): Maxwell Allen, William Bruce, Jared Cornejo, Jesse DaCosta, Sam Eccles, Trey Gora, Jack Miller, Prince Okonny, Munir Sherali, Chad Smith, Mac Van Oudt
Men's Swimming (7): Cydney Adams, Phoebe Croston, Matti Friesz, Autumn Grinter, Emma Keith, Ryleigh Poe, Olivia Viele
Women's Swimming (5): Alex Adams, Conner Colston, Dismas Dillon, Marshall Holt, Jackson Penny
