Women's Soccer Posts 1-1 Draw on Sunday

Pizano scores in EIU tie against Indiana State

Charleston, Ill. Eastern Illinois women's soccer battled to a 1-1 draw at Lakeside Field on Sunday afternoon. The match marks the second year that the meeting between the Panthers and the Sycamores ends in a tie. In 2022, both schools posted a 0-0 draw.

EIU is now 1-2-1 on the season while ISU moved to 0-0-4 on the season.

EIU came out strong on the attacking half of the field from the moment the whistle was blown. In the 9th minute, Ella Onstott found Serra Pizano on the left side, the senior forward dribbled past one defender before taking the shot that would give EIU the early 1-0 lead. The game then became physical as both teams fought hard for the ball. The Sycamores found the equalizer with Maddie Helling in the 32nd minute, after a cross coming from the left side of Panther's defense.

In the second half, EIU's defense managed to hold off ISU's offense to secure the tie. Goalkeepers Lexi Prusow and Ashlyn Hoover added three saves each for the Panthers.

The Panthers will now hit the road once again this season as they prepare to face Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday, Aug. 31st. Kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
