Eastern Illinois Athletic Hall of Famer and former longtime "Voice of the Panthers", Ken Wooddell passed away on Thursday (Sept. 14.).

Wooddell was a long-time area broadcaster first doing games for the Panther football team from 1949-57 and then again during a successful run by the team at the NCAA Division I level from 1983-1999.

He was inducted into the EIU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995 and was the 1993 EIU Glen Hesler Award winner.

A IBCA Hall of Fame selection in 1975 he broadcast over 1,800 collegiate and high school basketball games along with more than 500 football games in over six decades behind the microphone.Â
