Men’s Soccer Defeated Under The Lights At Detroit Mercy

Detroit, Mich. - The Eastern Illinois men's soccer team ended its trip to Michigan with a 2-1 loss under the lights. The Panthers are now 1-4-2 in the season while the Titans moved to a 2-6 record. 

The Titans came out firing, as Josh Copeland scored the first goal of the night in the second minute of the game. In the 19th minute, Felipe Kerr Lourenco found Kyle Kimberling with a great ball in behind the Titan's defense. The freshman forward concluded the play with a first time low diagonal finish to take the match to an even score at halftime. It was Kimberling's first college career goal. 
 
The second half started with both teams looking for the win. EIU had a total of seven shots while Detroit Mercy added another ten. In the 69th minute, Casey McCarthy finds the back of the net after a long throw into the Panther's box. 

Detroit Mercy ended the match outshooting the Panthers, 14-10.

Goalkeeper Kyce Toutanji made three saves in net for EIU.

Up next: EIU will have nine days to prepare for the conference opener, as the Panthers host Lindenwood on Thursday, Sept. 28th.
