Charleston, Ill. -  Eastern Illinois men's soccer leads up until the 84th minute of game, but concedes the tie to IUPUI, 1-1. The Panthers are now 1-1-1 on the season while the Jaguars moved to a 1-2-1 record.

The kickoff between Eastern Illinois and IUPUI had to be pushed back thirty minutes due to lightning in the area. When the green light was given by the game officials, both schools played a very balanced first half. Although IUPUI kept good possession of the ball, the Panthers offered more danger to the Jaguar's defense on the counters. Sam Eccles logged the first couple of attempts for EIU with a shot saved by their goalkeeper in the 9th minute and off a header in the 25th minute of the match. Five minutes later, Casey Welage found Eccles with a great ball in behind the Jaguar's defense. The senior forward did not hesitate to beat their defender and take the shot that gave EIU the 1-0 lead into halftime.

The second half started with IUPUI pressing to find the equalizer goal. Goalkeeper Kyce Toutanji finished the game with four saves, all four being in the second half. With only six minutes left on the clock, the Jaguar's broke EIU's defense in a corner that ended up with Kyle Healy heading it to the goal. Prior to that, IUPUI missed a penalty kick in the 59th minute as the ball hit the right post.

EIU ended the match with 10 shots, 5 being on target.

Up next, EIU will host Bellarmine on Saturday, Sept 9th.
