Eastern Illinois indoor track and field wrapped up their 2023/24 home events at the EIU John Craft Invite held in Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse. Eighteen  Panthers ended the evening with the gold, as they finished in first place of their respective events.

CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois indoor track and field wrapped up their 2023/24 home events at the EIU John Craft Invite held in Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse. Eighteen  Panthers ended the evening with the gold, as they finished in first place of their respective events.

EIU brought home the men's 60 meter dash with Daniel Lacy (6.92), Jahleel Perrin (6.97), and Taj Mathis-Akinremi (7.09) taking up the three podium spots.
 
Lacy claimed his second first place finish of the day in the 300m with a time of 34.98. Elijah Skutt earned his first victory in the men's 60m hurdles (8.64) with Gregory Downs right behind him with a time of 8.69.

Still on the men's side, the Panthers won the 400m with Riley Wittkamper at a time of 51.60 while Adam Swanson swept the 3000m race at a time of 8.15.20. It was Swanson's new personal best in the event and he is now tenth on the EIU career list.

To close the track events of the evening, EIU finished first in the 4000m DMR at a time of 11.01.46.

Opening the field events, Porter Conroy won the high jump at a mark of 1.95m (6' 4.75"). Declan Ritzenthaler claimed his second straight first place finish of the season in the pole vault with a height of 4.70m (15' 5").
 
Ramsey Hunt took once again the triumph in the long jump this season with a distance of 6.92m (22' 11.25"). Drew Smith won the triple jump after reaching the 13.29m (43' 7.25") mark.

Bradley Olysav swept both the shot put and weight throw after getting to the 15.95m (52' 4") and 17.67m (57' 11.75"), respectively.

On the women's side, Hallee Thomas collected the victory in the 60m hurdle for the second time this season. Her time in today's event was 8.96, which is 14 milliseconds faster than her time at the EIU Early Bird meet.
 
MaKenna McBride took home the 300m run at a time of 42.90 while Isabel Arthur collected the 800m event at a time of 2:32.83.

Eastern would not stop there with the sweeps, for the field events, Holly Vogt won the long jump with a distance of 5.41m (17' 9"). Clayre Shaver secured the first place in the shot put after getting to the 11.96m mark (39' 3"), and Taylor Iverson got the gold once again this season after winning the weight throw event with a 16.12m mark (52' 10.75").

The EIU indoor track team will be back in action next week, as they travel to Indiana for the Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 20.
