Abby Reinl headlined the Eastern Illinois women's soccer award winners announced on Wednesday as she was tabbed the Ohio Valley Conference Midfielder of the Year for 2024.  Joining Reinl with All-OVC accolades were Alex Tetteh and Colleen Bauer.

EIU opens play at the OVC Tournament on Thursday with a 7 p.m. match against No. 7 seed Southeast Missouri.

Reinl finished second in the OVC in scoring this season as she led the Panthers with eight goals including three match winning goals.  Reinl had a streak during the OVC season of scoring at least one goal in five straight matches as seven of her goals came in conference play.  She was a first team All-OVC selection at midfielder while winning the Midfielder of the Year Award.  Reinl finished with a regular season shot percentage of 63 percent of her season shots on goal.

Tetteh was a second team All-OVC selection for the second straight year at the forward position.  She ranked second on the Panthers team with six goals including one match winner.  Tetteh accounted for 13 total points adding one assist.  During the season she posted EIU's first hat trick in a game since the 2012 season.

Bauer was named to the All-OVC Newcomer team as the Panther freshman defender logged the most minutes of any player on the EIU roster this season.  Bauer finished with 1,434 minutes played as a starter in the Panthers backline.  She picked up one assist during the year.

The three players named to the All-OVC team are the most for the Panthers program since the 2012 season.  Reinl becomes the first EIU player to win Midfielder of the Year since the league adjusted its end of year awards to position specific players in 2020.  She is the first Panther to earn first team All-OVC honors since the 2019 season.

EIU has had six total players previously win OVC Player of the Year honors.  Heather Ory (1998), Ida Hakansson (1999), Devon Bissell (2000), Beth Liesen (2003) and Kellie Floyd (2006) all won OVC Offensive Player of the Year awards.  Sara Teteak (2019) was named the OVC Defensive Player of the Year.  In 2020 the OVC adjusted its end of year awards to honor a Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder and Forward of the Year.
