Women's Soccer Season Ends At OVC Tournament

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Eastern Illinois women's soccer saw its 2024 season come to an end in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament suffering a 2-1 loss to Southeast Missouri.

Elizabeth Rater scored what proved to be the match winner for the RedHawks with just over six minutes remaining in the contest.  Emily Baker provided the assist, her second of the night.

SEMO scored the first goal of the match with Justi Nelson finding the back of the net in the 22nd minute as the Redhawks led 1-0 at the half.

EIU quickly knotted the match at 1-1 in the opening seconds of the second half as Alex Tetteh scored just 23 seconds into the second half.  Kate Germano was credited with the assist.

EIU had two shots on net in the final minutes but could not final the equalizer ending their season at 5-8-6 overall. 

Earlier this week Abby Reinl was named the OVC Midfielder of the Year and a first-team All-OVC selection.  Tetteh earned second team All-OVC honors for the second straight year.  Freshman defender Colleen Bauer was named to the All-OVC Newcomer team.

SEMO moves on to the quarterfinal round with a 3-10-3 record.
