SIUE scored in the final three minutes on Sunday afternoon snapping Eastern Illinois women's soccer streak of collecting points in OVC matches with a 2-1 win over the Panthers.
EIU had picked up points in three straight matches with a pair of draws and a win but saw that streak come to a close in the waning minutes at Korte Stadium.
Abby Reinl scored her fifth goal of the season for the first goal of the match with a right foot one-time touch on a ball passed through to the goal box by
Avery Richardson. Reinl's goal came in the 56th minute.
The lead was short lived as SIUE knotted the match at 1-1 just two minutes later on a goal by Savannah DeFini.
Macie Begley had the match winner in the final 2:30 of action on an assist by DeFini and MaryClaire Imig.
EIU finished the match with five shots on goal with Reinl, Richardson,
Carys Grieve,
Kya Trejo and
Ella Dwyer all getting a shot on goal for EIU as the Panthers are now 3-6-5 overall, 1-2-2 in the OVC.
SIUE also improved to 1-2-2 in the OVC with a 2-6-4 overall mark.
