The Eastern Illinois Women's basketball team (2-5, OVC 0-0) fell 90-43 to No. 13 Kansas State (7-1, Big 12 0-0) on Tuesday night in Manhattan, Kan. at Bramlage Coliseum. The Panthers move to 0-2 in the all-time series record versus KSU.
The Wildcats began the opening frame with pace, shooting 67 percent from the field while knocking down both of their attempts from three point range. The Panthers recorded five steals while forcing six KSU first-quarter turnovers as the contest entered the first intermission 20-7 in favor of the Wildcats.
Kansas State remained in control for the majority of the first half, outscoring the Panthers 21-12 in the second quarter. The Wildcats shot 57 percent from the field while connecting on four of seven attempts from beyond the arc as they pushed their lead to 41-19.
KSU opened the third period on a 15-2 run to put the game out of reach early in the second half. The Panthers continued to fight but would go on to drop Tuesday night's contest.
Kiyley Flowers led EIU with her season best nine points in 32 minutes of action.
Macy McGlone also contributed to the Eastern Illinois offense, logging six points and six rebounds in 24 minutes.
Alanna Phillipo earned her first bucket of the 2024 season as well on a reverse layup with one minute to go in the third quarter. Phillipo would finish the evening with 5 points.
Kansas State ended the night with four scorers in double-digits as Ayoka Lee finished with 15 points and was the contest's leading scorer.
Eastern Illinois is back in action on Friday, Dec. 6 at Groniger Arena as they are scheduled to take on Indiana State at 5pm.
