Eastern Illinois women's basketball had two players collect double-doubles on Thursday night but it was not enough to overcome a solid outside shooting night by UT Martin.
At the end of the evening UTM picked up a 80-65 win at Groniger Arena. UTM improved to 8-12 overall, 5-4 in the OVC. EIU had its four-game win streak snapped as the Panthers fell to 9-13 overall, 6-3 in the OVC.
EIU had double-doubles by
Macy McGlone and
Taris Thornton. McGlone had her tenth straight double-double and 17th this season finishing with 21 points and ten rebounds. Thornton had 11 points and 11 rebounds picking up eight of her boards on the offensive glass.
UT Martin led 45-31 at the half hitting 5-of-6 3-pointers in the opening half. They would have a streak of hitting 8-of-9 before cooling off late and ending the night 9-of-19 from behind the arc.
Anaya Brown had 24 points to lead the Skyhawks. Kenley McCarn added 22 and Norah Clark 11.
EIU cut the lead down to nine points in the third quarter but could get no closer.
Ellie Buzzelle was the final Panther in double figures with 11 points.
