Eastern Illinois softball picked up two more wins on Saturday at the Mardi Gras Mambo to improve to 4-0 on the season. EIU held off North Dakota 4-3 in the first game before beating Montana 9-4 in the second game.
In the opener against North Dakota,
Rachel Kaufman picked up the win in the circle and
Olivia Price the save in relief.
Marama Makea,
Briana Gonzalez and
Avary Makarewicz all had two hits to pace the offense with Makarewicz driving in two of the four runs.
In the second game against Montana EIU exploded for 15 hits against three Montana pitchers. Fresman
McKenzie Oslanzi picked up her second win of the season in relief.
Five different players finished with two hits in the win with
Abbey Crain and Gonzalez each collecting two RBI.
EIU closes out the tournament on Sunday morning against Providence at 10 am
