Eastern Illinois rallied from down double digits in the opening half to tie the game at the half. The Panthers could not overcome a second half Tennessee Tech run that lifted TTU to a 75-67 win over EIU.
EIU trailed by 15 points with just over five minutes left in the opening half as the Panthers closed the half with a 17-3 run to tie the game at 38-38 at the half.
Tiger Booker hit a 3-pointer with two seconds left in the half to cap the EIU run.
In the second half, hot outside shooting by Tennessee Tech proved to be the difference. The Golden Eagles were 6-of-12 from 3-point range in the second half with back-to-back 3-pointers by Jayvis Harvey and Rodney Johnson Jr during a 10-0 run that pushed TTU's lead to 59-50 with 8:43 left in the game.
For the game Tennessee Tech shot 52 percent for the game from 3-point range going 13-of-25. EIU cooled off from outside in the second half as the Panthers finished 0-for-9 from long range in the second half and 5-of-20 for the game.
Kyndall Davis collected his fourth double-double of the season with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Booker added 16 points and
Corey Sawyer Jr had 13.
EIU felt to 13-16 overall, 7-9 in the OVC.
TTU improved to 10-19 overall, 5-11 in the OVC. Five Golden Eagle players scored in double figures led by Johnson with 18 points. Daniel Egbuniwe and Kyle Layton each knocked down four 3-pointers in the win.
