MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Jacksonville State took advantage of early Eastern Illinois errors as the Gamecocks beat the Panthers, 3-1, in a match-up of two former Ohio Valley Conference schools.
The Gamecocks scored two unearned runs in the opening inning against EIU starter
McKenzie Oslanzi (7-1) who suffered her first loss of the season. Oslanzi threw a complete game with seven strikeouts allowing three unearned runs in the loss.
The two JSU runs came on RBI hits by Lindsey Richardson and Morgan Nowakowski in the first.  JSU's final run came on a sacrifice fly in the third by Ashley Phillips. Â
EIU scored its run in the bottom of the first as
Kendall Grover led off the game with a single. She would move to second on a stolen base and third on a single by
Jadin Justman.  Grover scored on a double steal later in the first with
Marama Makea.
Justman added a double in the third as she and Grover led EIU with two hits each.Â
Emma Jones had four hits for JSU.  Amber Reed (1-1) picked up the win as the Gamecocks improved to 6-11. EIU is now 11-7 on the season.
