Eastern Illinois men's tennis improved to 2-0 in the Horizon League as the Panthers picked up a Saturday afternoon win over Southern Indiana winning 5-2.

Thomas Wallace clinched the match for the Panthers with his two-set tiebreak win at No. 5 singles. Wallace beat Dylan Brown 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to clinch the match.

Wallace helped set the tone for the Panthers in doubles play as he teamed with
Tyler Carlin to win at No. 1 doubles. After USI evened the doubles winning at No. 2, EIU clinched the overall point with a win at No. 3 doubles.Â
Pau Riera and
William Hays won 7-6 (7-3) to put the Panthers up 1-0 in the match.

Hays extended the EIU lead to 2-0 with his two set win at No. 6 singles over Guy Finkelstein, winning 6-2, 6-1.

After a win by Southern Indiana at No. 3 singles,
Cameron Slabbert pushed the EIU lead to 3-1 in the match with his win at No. 2 singles over Eytan Michaeli. Slabbert won 6-3, 7-6 (8-6).

Wallace then sealed the overall win with his victory at No. 5 singles with
Zach White tacking on the final point with a win at No. 4 singles. White won 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) over Quinten Gillespie.
