Will Klein is the latest former Eastern Illinois baseball player to be called up to the Major Leagues as the former fifth-round draft selection was called up by the Kansas City Royals on Thursday (April 25).

Klein was a fifth-round selection of the Royals in the 2020 MLB Draft.  This season he has appeared in nine games for the Omaha Storm Chasers with a 0.00 ERA in 11 innings of work including three saves and 12 strikeouts.   Last season Klein was selected to participate in the Futures All-Star Game.

When Klein makes his MLB debut, he will become the 11th former Panther to play in the Major Leagues and first since Tim Bogar played from 1993-2001 with the New York Mets, Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers.

He will be the third Panther to play for the Royals at the MLB level joining Marty Pattin and Kevin Seitzer.
