Eastern Illinois welcomed three new head coaches during the 2023-24 academic year with one hire during the late summer, one in early 2024 and one as recently as May.
 
James Gildon, Robin Cambier and Marqus McGlothan were all hired as head coaches with the Panthers athletic department.
 
Gildon took over as the director of track & field during the late summer of 2023 and guided the Panthers through the 2023-24 indoor and outdoor track seasons.  He led the EIU men to a pair of runner-up finishes at the OVC Indoor and Outdoor Championships while leading the Panther women to a fourth place finish at both championships.  He coached long jumper Ramsey Hunt to a 10th place finish at the NCAA National Championships earning second team All-America honors. 
 
Cambier took over as the director of men's and women's tennis joining the program after the spring season was already underway in 2024.  Cambier would coach one second team All-OVC performer on the women's side while having one men's player earn Academic All-Horizon League honors during his first season.
 
McGlothan was named the interim head coach for the EIU women's basketball program in late May.  He steps into the position after working the previous two seasons on the EIU coaching staff including as the associate head coach in 2023-24.  During both of his previous seasons on staff, EIU had finished second in the OVC regular season standings and advanced to the OVC Tournament semifinals both seasons.
 
In addition EIU added two members to its senior staff with the hiring of Robb Rosenthal and Jenn King.   Rosenthal was hired as the Assistant AD for Compliance in November.  Jenn King was hired as the Panthers Assistant AD for Academic Services and Senior Woman Administrator at the end of June.
