Elkhanan Tanelus was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy presented to the nation's top academic football player by the National Football Foundation.

Tanelus was one of 203 total semifinalists covering all levels of collegiate football and one of 41 semifinalists from the FCS. Tanelus joined Hayden Olson of Tennessee Tech as the only two representatives from the Big South OVC Football Association.

Tanelus has already earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Eastern Illinois and is working on a master's level certificate in Quality Systems Management. His bachelor's degree was in Engineering Technology where he posted a 3.46 GPA.

He has been a multiple time selection to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll. He has appeared in 33 games over his career battling back from a season ending injury two seasons ago. Tanelus has 27 career starts between the center and guard position on the offensive line.
