The Eastern Illinois men's and women's track and field teams competed across two different events over the course of the weekend. The Panthers split between the Fighting Illini Challenge in Champaign, Ill., and the Missouri Bob Teel Invitational in Columbia, Mo.

Elijah Skutt and
Ramsey Hunt kicked off the weekend for EIU as they were both able to find the podium on day one in Champaign. Skutt finished the afternoon in second place in the high jump as he reached a height of 2.00m. Meanwhile, Hunt continued carving his path to nationals, jumping a distance of 7.51m to take first place in the long jump.
Day two highlighted more Panther athletes, as
Isabella Fabrizio,
Anna Jones,
Carolyn Cronin,
Angela Dobbins, and
Abraham Johnson all concluded the afternoon with top-three finishes. Fabrizio led the EIU field efforts, recording a distance of 13.13m in the shot put. Jones and Dobbins would find more success on the track, as Jones claimed third place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.38 while Dobbins placed second in the high jump with a height of 1.55m.
Johnson followed in Hunt's footsteps, finding the podium in the triple jump, claiming third place with a distance of 14.71m. Â Cronin would cap off day two of the Fighting Illini Challenge after notching third place in the high jump after also jumping 1.55m.
Missouri Bob Teel Invitational
The Bob Teel Invitational featured a larger group of Panther track athletes, as four EIU athletes were able to find themselves in one of the top five spots in their event.
Hallee Thomas started the day strong for Eastern Illinois, crossing the finish line in 9.06 seconds in the 60m hurdles to claim fifth place.
Ayden Cothern represented the Panthers in both the 60m and 200m races on Saturday. Cothern was able to claim the third-place spot in the 200m after logging a time of 22.23 Â as he also finished the 60m race in 7.01 to finish the afternoon in fifth.
Billy Bailey and
Isai Morales also found success later in the afternoon, each securing a fourth-place finish in their respective events. Bailey ran the 400m race in 48.98 as Morales ran the 800m in 1:53.65.
