Eastern Illinois men's tennis played two matches on Friday facing both IU Indianapolis and Dayton.
In the opening match of the day EIU dropped a match at IU Indy falling 6-1.
The Panthers won the No. 2 doubles match with
Pieke Bouman and
Alex Aldaz winning 6-4. The Jags would win the overall doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
In singles play EIU picked up its point in the match with a win at No. 3 singles by Aldaz. Aldaz won 7-5, 6-1.
Duarte Trocado lost in three sets at No. 6 singles falling 1-6, 6-0, 6-1.Â
In the second match of the day EIU lost 5-2 against Dayton.
Dayton won the doubles point picking up wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the order. The Panthers did win at No. 3 doubles with
Pieke Bouman and
Michael Schut winning 6-4.
In singles play EIU bumped up players in the competition order by one spot with
Zach White playing at No. 1 singles.
Aldaz moved up to No. 2 singles and picked up his second win of the day with a three-set win 4-6, 6-4, 12-10.
Tyler Carlin had the second win in the match for EIU winning at No. 3 singles. Carlin won in three sets 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-7.Â
EIU returns to action on Sunday at Lipscomb.
