NOTES TO KNOW
• Eastern Illinois travels to Lindenwood on Saturday as the Panthers wrap up the conference portion of their 2025 season.  EIU lost at home last weekend falling to No. 5 Tennessee Tech 21-9 to stand at 3-7 overall, 2-5 in the OVC Big South.  EIU has lost five straight after opening the conference season 2-0 with wins over Western Illinois and Tennessee State.  Lindenwood enters the game at 4-6 overall, 3-3 in the OVC Big South after a road loss last weekend at Western Illinois.

• Linebacker Ja'Wuan Nickson continues to be a big presence on the Eastern Illinois defense as the junior college transfer had 11 tackles on Saturday against Tennessee Tech.  It was the second straight double figure tackle game for Nickson and his fifth posted this season.  His season high of 14 tackles came the previous week (Nov. 1) against UT Martin.  Nickson leads the Panthers with 89 total tackles this year which ranks 27th in the FCS and second in the OVC Big South.  He added two tackles and a forced fumble to his totals against Tennessee Tech.  Nickson leads the Panthers with 8.5 tackles for loss this season which ranks 11th in the conference.

• With two starting receivers out of the game and another key receiver injured in the first quarter, tight end Alex Herrera stepped up for his most productive day of the season.  Herrera hauled in seven passes for 88 yards against Tennessee Tech.  His previous season high was three catches for 28 yards against Tennessee State.  For the season Herrera now has 19 receptions for 195 yards.  Last season during his four game redshirt year, Herrera caught 12 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

• Eastern Illinois defense forced two turnovers on Saturday against Tennessee Tech increasing the Panthers season total in turnovers gained to 14 which ranks second in the OVC Big South and 39th in the FCS.  Moses Alexander had his second interception of the season while Ja'Wuan Nickson forced a fumble that was recovered by Josh Brown.

• Eastern Illinois recovered its 11th fumble of the season Saturday as part of its two turnovers gained performance against Tennessee Tech.  The 11 fumble recoveries this season rank the Panthers fourth in the FCS as one of only five teams in the nation with double figure fumble recoveries.  Tarleton State is the FCS leader with 13.  EIU's school record for fumble recoveries is 23 set during the 2013 season.
