Eastern Illinois punter
Mason Miller was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press released on Tuesday (Dec. 16.).
Â
Miller, a graduate transfer from Marian University, ranked fourth in the NCAA in punting average for the regular season at 47.4 yards per punt. The average broke the previous school record of 44.6 set by Kevin Cook during the 2007 season.
Â
Miller was named the OVC-Big South Football Association Special Teams Player of the Year and a first-team All-Conference selection at punter. He had a season long punt of 65 yards with 19 of his 53 punts over 50 yards with another 19 of those punts inside the opponents 20-yard line. He had just one punt in the 53 attempts go for a touchback.
Â
Miller becomes the third punter in program history to earn All-American honors for the Panthers joining Kevin Cook (2007 – Honorable Mention) and Don Manzke (1981 – Honorable Mention).
