GAME 26
Eastern Illinois remained one game back in the Ohio Valley Conference standings following the completion of Saturday play as Panthers are 16-9 overall, 13-3 in the OVC. The Panthers are one game behind Lindenwood and Tennessee Tech with both standing at 14-2 in the OVC race. EIU split the regular season series with both schools as the top two teams in the OVC standings receive a double-bye in the OVC Tournament to the semifinal round. EIU travels to Southern Indiana on Thursday with the Screaming Eagles currently 18-9 overall, 10-6 in the OVC which places USI in fifth place. A win by EIU on Thursday would lock up a top four finish in the OVC for the Panthers and guarantee at least a bye to the semifinals of the OVC Tournament.Â
MORE MCGLONE DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Macy McGlone continues to move up the EIU career charts as she now needs 32 points to move into the EIU career Top 10 for scoring. McGlone is currently 11th with 1,402 points as she moved past three players on the career list with her performance on Saturday against UT Martin. The senior is already third on the EIU career rebounds list with 877 and third in career blocks with 152. She had two blocks on Saturday against UT Martin giving her at least one blocked shot in 16 straight games. McGlone posted her league leading 14th double-double of the season in the game against UT Martin finishing with 22 points and 12 rebounds. She is currently 8th in the NCAA in double-doubles and rebounds per game this season. McGlone owns the EIU single season (26) and career mark (44) for double-doubles at EIU.
JOHNSON WITH A SEASON HIGHÂ
Lyric Johnson played her most extensive time of the season at the point guard spot on Saturday as the Panthers missed the services of guard
Kiyley Flowers. Johnson responded with a season high of 11 points playing 36 minutes. She also matched her season high of four rebounds while passing out one assist. In Thursday's win over Tennessee State Johnson was called into action early when Flowers went down with an injury just a minute into the contest. Johnson scored two points playing 33 minutes at the point passing out five assists with no turnovers. She also hauled in four rebounds in the win. Johnson had one steal in each game as she has four straight games with at least one steal and 29 total for the season.
