Eastern Illinois women's tennis started its two-match road swing through the state of Michigan on Saturday night with a 4-0 loss at Eastern Michigan.
The match was played to clinch with EIU set to travel to Western Michigan for a Sunday morning contest.
EIU had only five available players in the line-up forcing the Panthers to have to forfeit the No. 3 doubles match. Eastern Michigan then locked up the overall doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Â
Aleyla Wooten and
Michelle Kostadinova had their match left unfinished at No. 1 doubles.
The player shortage carried over to singles play were EIU forfeited a point at No. 6 singles. The Eagles won the final two points of the match with victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
Wooten was leading 5-4 in her second set at No. 1 singles against Daniella Shved when the match was left unfinished. Shved won the opening set 6-2.
Ornella Lomenzo battled in her opening set at No. 2 singles falling 7-5 and was trailing 5-3 in the second set as EMU clinched the overall match. Kostadinova had her match at No. 3 singles also remain unfinished. Â
