Eastern Illinois men's tennis lost the first of two weekend matches against Mid-American Conference schools on Saturday night with the Panthers falling 4-0 at Toledo.
The match was played to clinch with EIU set to travel for a Sunday morning match at Western Michigan.
The Rockets won the doubles point winning at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.Â
Zach White and
Gui Cauvilla battled at No. 3 doubles before falling 7-5. The No. 1 doubles match was unfinished with
Alex Aldaz and
Ludolph Wiggett trailing 6-5 when Toledo locked up the point.
In singles play Toledo won points at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles with the remaining three singles matches left unfinished. Aldaz was leading in his second set at No. 2 singles against Hanamichi Carvajal 4-3 after dropping the opening set 6-3 when it was left unfinished.
Duarte Trocado pushed his first set at No. 5 singles against Joshua Mackey to a tie break before losing 7-6 (7-3). He was trailing 3-0 in the second set when the match was unfinished due to Toledo locking up the overall win.
