UT Martin scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning as the Skyhawks had that offensive total stand up in a 6-3 win over Eastern Illinois on Friday afternoon at Bettye Giles Field.

Alli Robinson had the big hit of the opening inning with a three-run home run against EIU starter

The Skyhawks tacked on an additional run in the inning taking advantage of a throwing error by the Panthers. UTM extended the lead to 5-0 with a run in the third on an RBI single by Ava Scott. Scott and Robinson both had two hits to lead the Skyhawks.

EIU cut into the UT Martin lead in the fifth as the Panthers scored twice against Skyhawks starter Ashtyn Green (7-4).

Alisha Frederick drove home the first EIU run with a single up the middle to score
Abbey Crain.Â
Kendall Grover scored the next run of the inning taking advantage of an error by UT Martin.

Frederick, Crain and Grover all had two hits to lead the Panthers offense.

Natalie Kreuziger pitched the Skyhawks out of the threat in the fifth and would close the game to pick up the save.

UT Martin tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI by Carly Ward. The Skyhawks are now 11-15 overall, 2-4 in the OVC.Â

Sophia Olman drove home a run for the Panthers in the top of the seventh as EIU is now 13-14 overall, 5-2 in the OVC.
