MARTIN, Tenn. – The Eastern Illinois beach volleyball team (0-4, 0-4 OVC) closed out their opening weekend of competition with contests against Chattanooga and Tennessee Tech in Martin on Saturday.
The Panthers fell 0-5 against the OVC preseason favorite Mocs in the early morning slot, dropping all five pairs in straight sets.
Eastern then took a 2-0 lead against the Golden Eagles before ultimately suffering a narrow 2-3 defeat.

Tori Mohesky and
Sylvia Hasz picked up EIU's first point of the season with a straight set win (21-12, 21-13) to open the match.

Lilli Amettis and
Julia Udell were responsible for the Panthers' second point with another straight set win (21-13, 21-21).
After dropping their opening set, No. 2 pair
Destiny Walker and
Catalina Rochaix responded with a 21-14 win in set two, but were unable to prevail in the deciding frame.
Next up for EIU is a home and home with Lindenwood. The Panthers will travel to St. Charles on Saturday, March 29th before hosting the Lions at Sister City Park on Thursday, April 10th at 1 p.m.Â
