Nakyel Shelton was named a first team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection as the conference announced its league awards today (March 4).

Shelton ranked second in the OVC in scoring this season averaging 17.0 points per game including ending the season with three straight 20-plus point performances. This past week he was named the OVC Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points per game in a pair of home wins over Little Rock and Southeast Missouri. That production also earned him Lou Henson National College Player of the Week honors.

Shelton scored a season high 38 points in the home ESPNU game against Morehead State and ended the season with nine 20-point scoring nights. He ranked in the top ten in both field goal percentage and free throw percentage.

Shelton becomes the 13th player to earn first team All-OVC honors for the Panthers.
