MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Eastern Illinois beach volleyball team completed their first day of competition in Morehead on Friday with a pair of conference clashes against UT Martin and Morehead State.

The Panthers fell 0-5 against the Skyhawks before suffering a 1-4 defeat against the Eagles.

Eastern dropped all five pairs in straight sets against UTM in their first match of the weekend.

The Panthers took an early lead against MSU, as No. 4 pair Ariadna Pereles and Kaitlyn Flynn took their matchup 2-1 (21-15, 9-21, 15-10).

No. 5 pair Lilli Amettis and Julia Udell came close to picking up a second point for EIU, but fell short in three sets (19-21, 21-11, 13-15).

The remaining three pairs were won by Morehead State in straight sets.

Eastern will conclude the regular season on Saturday with matches against Tennessee Tech at 10 a.m. ET and Chattanooga at 2 p.m. ET.
