EUGENE, Ore. – Freshman
Abraham Johnson wrapped up his first NCAA season on Friday evening finishing ninth in the triple jump at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
Johnson qualified for the finals in the event ranking as one of nine jumpers that advanced to the finals for three additional jumps.  Johnson posted his finals qualifying jump of 52'4.25" on his second of three opening round jumps.
He was unable to land a better jump with his final three attempts finishing 9th in the nation. The freshman did land four of his other five jumps over 50'. His season best jump of 52'10" had been at the NCAA West Regional which punched his ticket to Eugene. That jump ranks third on the EIU career top ten list.
It marked the second straight year EIU has had an athlete finish in the Top 10 in nation at the National Championships after
Ramsey Hunt placed 10th in the long jump last year.
Johnson will earn All-America honors from the USTFCCCA, with those awards officially announced next week following the completion of the NCAA Championships.
