Eastern Illinois men's and women's track & field both excelled in the classroom this past academic year with both programs earning USTFCCCA Team All-Academic honors announced this week.
 
In addition, freshman Abraham Johnson earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors.
 
To earn USTFCCCA Team All-Academic honors, a team must post a team GPA of 3.0 higher for the academic year.
 
As a team both the EIU men's and women's programs earned the team academic award.  The women posted a team GPA of 3.46 with the men posting a team GPA of 3.30.
 
To earn individual All-Academic Athlete honors, a student-athlete most hold at 3.25 or higher cumulative GPA, have completed two or more semesters at their institution and have competed in the NCAA Regional.  Johnson placed ninth at the NCAA National Championships in the triple jump.
 
Georgia was the women's national academic team of the year for both indoor and outdoor track & field.  On the men's side USC (Southern California) won the honor for the indoor season while Texas A&M captured the honor for the outdoor season.
