Eastern Illinois women's soccer moved to 3-0 to start Ohio Valley Conference play with a pair of road wins last week. On Tuesday, several Panthers players were honored for their performances as EIU swept the OVC weekly awards.
Alex Tetteh was named the Offensive Player of the Week.
Adison Welsh was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Ella Kratochvil was named the Goalkeeper of the Week.
EIU went undefeated in the month of September with a 4-0-2 record including five straight shutouts in the month. The Panthers host Morehead State on Sunday at Lakeside Field.
Tetteh provided all of the offense for the Panthers this past week helping spark EIU to a 3-0 start to OVC play. On Thursday at Western Illinois, Tetteh matched the OVC and EIU record with four goals in the match scoring two in each half. She was the third EIU player to ever score four goals in a contest, the other two occurred way back in 1997. She was the eighth OVC player to scored four goals in a match with the last coming in 2013. On Sunday, Tetteh scored just four minutes into the match at UT Martin as the goal stood up for a 1-0 Panthers victory. She was also named the National Player of the Week by Top Drawer Soccer.
Welsh was the only EIU field player to log all 180 minutes on the pitch as she helped EIU's defense post a pair of shutout wins to improve to 3-0 in the OVC. She helped limit Western Illinois to just two shots on goal in Thursday's 4-0 victory. On Sunday she came forward on an early attack helping to assist
Alex Tetteh's goal, the lone tally of the EIU 1-0 victory.
Kratochvil turned in her fourth and fifth straight clean sheets as Eastern Illinois moved to 3-0 to open Ohio Valley Conference play. In Thursday's 4-0 win over Western Illinois Kratochvil had two saves as the Panthers offense put up a dominant performance. On Sunday, Kratochvil was sharp in net turning away ten UT Martin shots to keep the donut on the board after EIU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just four minutes into the match. It was the sixth shutout this year for the junior.
