On a night when offense was hard to come by, Little Rock had two big 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter to lift the Trojans to a 55-47 win over Eastern Illinois on Thursday night at the Jack Stephens Center.
EIU led 22-20 at the half holding a first half rebounding edge that the Panthers would hold on to for the game finishing with a 40-36 margin on the glass.
Little Rock held EIU to just two points for most of the third quarter opening the second half on a 9-2 run and eventually taking the lead with a 19-11 third quarter advantage.
The Trojans took a 43-42 lead into the final five minutes of action with Mya Cotto hitting the first big 3-pointer with 4:33 left in the game to make it a two-possession game. Brenna Burk connected for a 3-pointer with 2:37 to play, increasing the Little Rock lead to 51-44.
Sydney-James Desroches answered for EIU with a 3-pointer with 2:22 left to play as she posted her second career double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds.Â
EIU was unable to get any closer in the final two minutes falling to 3-16 overall, 2-6 in the OVC.Â
Tiny Lewis had nine points off the bench just missing her fourth straight double figure game.
Four Little Rock players scored in double figures as the Trojans improved to 9-8 overall, 5-2 in the OVC. Cotto was one of two players with 12 points to lead Little Rock. Burk had ten points. Â
