Eastern Illinois sent split squads to both the Fighting Illini Challenge and the Notre Dame Invitational this weekend. At both meets, the Panthers recorded personal records, first-place finishes, and program records.
Fighting Illini Challenge:
In Champaign, Illinois, Maliek Bush kicked off with winning the men's 60m with a final time of 7.21 seconds. Bush also recorded a season best in the men's long jump with a 7.06m mark. Enoch Appiah-Kubi also earned a season best in the long jump with a 6.71m mark. Sam Bradbury placed third in the men's weight throw, setting a new personal record with a 19.09m (62-0.75) mark, which ranks 5th all-time in EIU history. Jacob Maxwell, Kaden Salisbury, and Sawyer Woodard also set PRs in the men's weight throw. In the women's high jump, Layla Bonilla jumped a season best with a 1.60m mark. Angela Dobbins set a new personal record in the women's long jump with a 5.64m mark. Abby Venhaus recorded a long jump season-best mark of 5.85m (19-02.50), which ranks 6th all-time in EIU history. Kaden Salisbury placed 7th in the shot put, earning a new personal best with a 15.27m mark. Marco Reynolds finished 9th in the women's weight throw with a 15.35m mark, a new personal best.
Notre Dame Invitational:
Ayden Cothern and Shawn Lacy went two and three in the men's 60m. Each set a PR, with Cothern finishing in 6.82 seconds, followed by Lacy with a finals time of 6.87 seconds. Nathan Kirby struck gold in the men's 60m hurdles by earning a first-place finish and setting a new PR with a time of 8.06. In the same event, Maxwell St. Clair finished third with a time of 8.40 seconds. Billy Bailey and Tyler Miller each finished in the top ten in the men's 400m. Bailey finished 7th with a time of 49.66, while Miller placed 9th with a time of 50.17, setting a new PR. In the women's 800m, Anna Bieber secured a new PR time of 2:19.80, while Ashlyn Denney finished 7th with a time of 2:14.05, which ranks 9th all-time in EIU history. Gavin Snyder and Carter Brademeyer finished second and third in the men's pole vault. Both individuals scored a 4.65m mark. In the women's 200m, Analena Peterson and Annabelle Coudron both set PRs. Peterson placed 3rd with a time of 25.13, followed by Annabelle Coudron, who placed 5th with a time of 25.74.
