UT Martin made ten of twelve free throws in the final quarter allowing the Skyhawks to hold off several Eastern Illinois rallies during a 58-51 win over the Panthers.
UTM led by as many as 15 points with just over seven minutes left to play in the third quarter. EIU's first run was a 7-0 spurt in the third quarter with two baskets by
Clara Glad and a 3-pointer by
Ava Stoller.  Stoller carried the Panthers offense most of the afternoon with 16 points including ten in the opening half.
The Skyhawks led by ten, 40-30, after three quarters.Â
EIU made two big runs in the fourth quarter, the first sparked by
Ella Lune with five straight points cutting the UTM lead to 44-40 with 6:49 to play. Â Â
Meioshe Mason followed with a basket trimming the lead to two points, one of two times in the quarter EIU closed to within two points.
Lune had a steal a few minutes later to cut the lead to 47-45 as she finished with nine points. Mason just missed a double-double with nine points, 13 rebounds.Â
Sydney-James Desroches pulled down ten rebounds as EIU won the battle on the glass 44-40 falling to 1-14 overall, 0-4 in the OVC.
UT Martin closed the game 10-of-12 at the free throw line and converted 23-of-31 at the line during the game. Kenley McCarn led all players with 21 points as UT Martin improved to 7-6 overall, 3-1 in the OVC.
Zy Thompson had 14 points and Brittni Wells added ten.Â
