For the second consecutive Sunday, the Eastern Illinois women's soccer team found a big goal from an unexpected hero as the Panthers won 1-0 at Southern Indiana.
Haylee Rios scored her first career goal just over seven minutes into the second half as the Panthers collected a second straight OVC road win to improve to 6-6-3 overall, 4-2 in the OVC.
Cora Erickson, EIU's unsung hero from last Sunday's win at Morehead State, provided the assist on Rios goal.
Ella Kratochvil made seven saves in goal for her eighth shutout this season with Anna Depenbrock placing three of USI's shots on goal. Josie Pochocki had two shots on goal for the Screaming Eagles.
The Panthers finished the match with 14 total shots but just four on net. Rios was joined by
Abby Reinl,
Amara Leppla and
Aleah Madeira with shots on goal for EIU.
USI fell to 2-9-6 overall, 1-2-3 in the OVC.
