Dalton BoruffNate Marshall, and James Geshel post a shutout to move EIU past Arkansas-Pine Bluff in game one of the midweek series. With today's win, the Panthers improved to 9-8, while the Golden Lions dropped to 8-13.

Boruff earned his first win of his senior campaign, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Boruff held a no-hitter until UAPB collected two base hits in the bottom of the 6th innings. Boruff handed the ball over to Nate Marshall, who continued the dominance on the mound.

Marshall threw 2.2 innings of relief, striking out two hitters, allowing only one hit. James Geshel took over in the 9th inning to complete the save, forcing two flyouts.

The game was a different tone for the Panthers' lineup after scoring 25 runs against Memphis, only collecting two runs and four hits.

EIU jumped out in front early, driving in the first of two runs in the first inning. The leadoff hitter, Brett Stanley, singled to right. After advancing to third on a throwing error and a wild pitch, Stanley scored on a James Love groundout to third base.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff threatened to score in the 6th inning with a runner in scoring position, but Nate Marshall was called upon from the bullpen and forced an Ian Smith flyout to end the inning.

A pitching duel was on full display as Jack Hasten of the Golden Lions threw 5.0 innings, allowing three hits, and finished with a run scored on a fielding error.

James Reagan threw 2.0 innings of relief for UAPB and hit two batters, allowing the Panthers to score the insurance run in the 7th inning.

Peyton Wilson was hit by Reagan and advanced to second with a single to second base from Ethan Rossi. Wilson scored on a chaotic sequence of events, which started with Goodwin reaching first on a fielder's choice. However, Reagan's throw to first was off the mark, allowing Wilson to score the second run of the game.

Marshal and Geshel faced no trouble the rest of the way, allowing only one hit in the last three innings.
