Indiana State broke through for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Sycamores snapped Eastern Illinois softball's win streak at 15 straight with a 3-0 win on Tuesday afternoon at Price Field.

EIU's offense, which has been red hot during the 15-game win streak, was held to two hits coming off the bats of
Mo Hance and
Marybeth Dyson.

Karlie McKenzie (4-8) pitched well in the start for the Panthers before running into some trouble in the sixth. Madison Poulson and Hannah Welch drew walks with Claire Connelly driving home the first run with an RBI single to center.

Emi Jeras and Sophie Esposito followed later in the inning with RBI as Indiana State improved to 18-16. Connelly had three of the five Indiana State hits in the game. Caylee Gaytan (8-5) picked up the win in relief.

EIU fell to 20-17 and lost for the first time since March 1 when they fell at nationally ranked Grand Canyon. Â

The Panthers advanced runners to third base in both the fourth and sixth innings but could not come up with the big hit in either inning.Â
Alisha Frederick reached on a walk in the sixth to extend her consecutive games streak of reaching base to 13.
