Eastern Illinois men's basketball head coach
Marty Simmons has announced the addition of transfer guard Jaden Miller who joins the Panthers after a standout career at East Central University.
Â
He arrives in Charleston following a remarkable season last year in which he led all of NCAA Division II in assists, establishing himself as one of the most dynamic playmakers in the country. A first team All-Great American Conference selection he passed out 8.3 assists per game while averaging 10.7 points per game. Known for his elite court vision and ability to elevate those around him, Miller brings a unique skill set that will immediately impact the Panthers offense.
Â
Miller had 11 games with double figures assists including a season high 14 against Oklahoma Baptist. He turned those double figure assist games into eight double-doubles as he had a total of 19 double figure scoring games. He fell one rebound shy of a triple-double twice during the season against Arkansas Monticello and Southwestern Oklahoma.
Â
"Jaden is a true floor general," said Simmons. His ability to control the pace, create opportunities for his teammates and make winning plays sets him apart. He's not just a passer; he affects the game in so many ways."
Â
Miller (6'1", 160) is from Pearland, Texas where he attended Glenda Dawson High School finishing his career as the program's all-time assist leader. He earned first team All-District honors while being named the Offensive Player of the Year. During his first season at East Central in 2023-24, Miller averaged 6.2 points and 4.1 assists per game.  He missed the 2024-25 season before his breakout year in 2025-26.
Â
Beyond his production on the court, Miller is widely respected for his leadership, character and feel for the game. His unselfish approach and commitment to team success align seamlessly with the culture being built within the Eastern Illinois program.
Â
"His feel and character are just as impressive as his numbers," Simmons added. "He's the type of player who makes everyone around him better, both on and off the floor. We expect him to make an immediate impact in our basketball program."
Â
Miller joins incoming freshman Jayden Wright (Chicago, Ill. / Benet Academy) who signed with the Panthers in November.Â
